Programmer in .NET

An experienced .NET programmer is required to join a large government department for a 12 month contract. 

The .NET developer should be able to:

  • Develop, test and deliver .NET components
  • Prepare unit test documentation such as test cycles, test conditions, test data, and test script
  • Execute unit tests and identify and debug uncovered errors
  • Adhere to project coding standards
  • Attend and participate in Code Reviews of tested .NET components

Highly Desirable Criteria:

  • Knowledge of Service Oriented Architecture concepts,
  • SQL Server connectivity
  • ODBC connectivity
  • Design patterns
  • Flow diagramming
  • Data modelling
  • Knowledge of .NET / VB.NET
  • Mainframe software design experience

Enterprise Solution Architect

Contractor role exists for an experienced Solution Architect for a large Government Organisation located in Canberra.

Successful candidate will be paid EXCELLENT rates based on experience.

Under direction of the senior solution architect, the solution architect will:

  • Determine and document technical solutions to meet business and IT requirements for major projects as part of an enterprise-wide security architecture
  • Review current and proposed designs and requirements for major projects to determine impact on security architecture
  • Assist delivery teams with architectural questions/guidance/ changes/ requirements
  • Work with IT and business stakeholders to determine requirements for security components, including stakeholders from external organisations
  • Work closely with technical specialists from the Security Applications team and other security teams on the design of security components, including participating in the proof of concept and prototyping activities
  • Produce security architecture documentation and high-level design documentation for security components
  • Contribute to the development of enterprise architecture

Highly Desirable Criteria:

  • Demonstrated experience in enterprise architecture
  • Demonstrated experience in application security
  • Demonstrated excellent analytical skills demonstrated by the development of technical solutions to meet complex IT and business requirements
  • Demonstrated superior skills in the development of detailed design and architectural documentation including the use of Unified Modeling Language (UML) modeling
  • Demonstrated excellent communication skills — proven ability to communicate effectively with stakeholders and infrastructure staff, both verbally and in writing

ETL Lead Programmer

Contractor role exists for an experienced ETL Developer for a large Government Organisation located in Canberra. 

Successful candidate will be paid EXCELLENT rates based on experience. 

Role responsibilities are:

  • Apply an ETL process to mainframe file extracts
  • Transformation, the application of business and technical rules and storage of data on a Teradata storage environment
  • Delivery of data into data marts for Management Information (MI) purposes
  • Work on testing of ETL jobs using SQL queries to mirror the logic of the ETL
  • Rework and refinement of ETL jobs in line with testing outcomes and evolved business rules
  • Deliver a component and support a comprehensive MI product/iteration into delivery as a part of a project team

Discipline in the development of and management of documentation to support the following is required:

  • Contribute documentation to a broader Software Architecture Document (SAD)
  • Documentation of adherence to the SAD
  • Problem management
  • Configuration management
  • Change Management
  • Service Management

Highly Desirable Criteria:

  • Demonstrated experience working as an ETL developer in large, complex government agency or organisation
  • Demonstrated delivery of complex iterations in a functional, fit for purpose data warehouse
  • Strong project management skills and administrative discipline
  • Training in the IBM Information Server / Ascential suite
  • Proven architecture skills to design, build and govern data capture, movement and transformation of data in a data warehousing context
  • 2+ years experience in applications / ETL development
